Too Many Trolls

Such a poor dope! A man from Illinois recently discovered that his cyber "girlfriend" of 2 years and 6 months, was fake... he discover this too late because during the time of the relationship he wired "her" some 200,000 US dollars. WTF! In a way I feel sorry for him in the sense that perhaps only a person very very very lonely would do that.

I can only say... people know they better be careful, there are too many cyber "trolls" out there. LOL

[Spoiler Alert] Book of Eli

The Movie
For me The Book of Eli was brilliant, specially for its surprise twist near the final part of the movie. The message delivered at the end was magnificent and inspiring. And when it was implied that Solara was somehow going to continue Eli´s legacy, that was just great... GO GIRL POWER!

Now, besides being such a nice movie, I was intrigued by the number of corporate brands that are present in the film, which I think is unusual for a major movie like this.

Here are some of the brands that I was able to spot:

At the beginning of the film when Eli finds a house to spend the night, he start washing his body with a “KFC” wet wipe which can be seen for about 3 seconds. Later we see some more KFC wipes at the store where he exchanged them for a battery charge.

Later on, when walking down a highway he came to a point where the road has fallen down. He stops to comtemplate the landscape. There it can be seen a truck trailer of “Busch” beer for about 9 seconds. Mmmm, beer, I´m already thirsty...

When Eli reach the town we can see an abandoned “J.Crew” Clothing Store for some 6 seconds at the top left corner of the screen.

Also in the town there´s a scene where the "bad" guys head out to go after ELi, a “Puma” Store is shown for less than 2 seconds in the top right corner of the screen.

The backpack that Eli carries is from “K-Mart”. "Hello. My name is ELI"... and I buy at K-Mart.

Other Mentions
  • In the town store there´s a “Hubbard” calendar on the wall. Hubbard is a construction company that makes highways among other things.
  • Among the books brought to Carnegie (the main "bad" guy), there´s an “Oprah Magazine” along with a copy of the DaVinci Code and an Oxford Dictionary... among other books. LOL
  • This one is not necessarily commercial but interesting nonetheless. When Eli is being held at Carnegie´s place there´s a movie poster of the film “A boy and his dog” (1975). A film that also have a post-apocalyptic setting.
  • In another take of the town we can see an abandoned “Stetson” Hat Company Store.
  • One of the armored trucks that drive the "bad" guys is a “GMC”. It can be seen the red letters of the logo.
  • Immediately after they set out to follow Eli (and the Puma Store is shown) they drive right in front of a “Coffe Beanery” Store.
These were some of the brands that I saw and I wanted to share with you.

Random Thought
This is concerning the movie storyline. Near the end of the film when Claudia (Solara´s mom) walk out of the room and away from Carnegie, I would have liked that she would have taken the book with her. This implying that she really remembered how to read braille language and she just lied to Carnegie to fool him for being such an idiotic tirant. Also implying that more copies would be available in time, besides the one from Eli.

"Empty" Future

With the recent news of Borders closing down 200 stores due to bankruptcy and Best Buy closing some of its stores outside U.S. and also having in mind the possible collapse of the economy (all indicators point to that). I was wondering that in a not-so-distant future we´re going to have a lot of empty stores´ buildings that won´t serve for anything rather than to shelter people. So I imagined a future like the one in the movie: Book of Eli (which I liked very much). Where the protagonist, Eli, struggle to survive in post-apocalyptic society and survives in part by seeking goods in abandoned buildings. I was imagining like people living in an empty Wal-Mart or an empty White Castle restaurant. It would be like totally cool... in a way.

Speaking of the movie: Book of Eli. Did you noticed all the major brands that were portrayed during the film? You only see them for a few seconds but they´re there. If you didn´t noticed or didn´t noticed them, have a look at this post -Spoiler Alert- Book of Eli.

Bahrain´s Army killing Unarmed Protesters

Dreadfulness. Sorrow. Shame. Sadness. That´s what I felt when I heard the news that the Bahrain´s army shoot at some people that were protesting. What was the protest about? Well, it turns out that the army closed off access to one of their praying places and the unarmed civilians were planning on getting there when they were shot. There were 3 killed and 38 wounded... this is another example of pointless killing, government intimidation and abuse, and denial of Human Rights. What is Bahrain anyway? Well it´s a kingdom in the Middle East, they´re ally to U.S. Since the attack on innocent people the Human Rights Watch and other organizations are asking U.S. to cease support but the thing is no action has been taken yet. WHEN WILL THIS MADNESS END.

Golfish Killers

Three days ago the Huffington Post reported that some teens went into a house to rob and besides taking some stuff, they killed the three goldfish that those people had as pets.  When the owners returned to their home some days after the burglary they found the horrible scene of the dead goldfish.  Allegedly they did that to "avoid leaving any witnesses".

What a stupid & idiotic thing to do, that´s what I´m thinking!  I think that´s obviously just an excuse to harm other living creatures.  Currently, one of the burglar teens faces charges of animal cruelty. They killed the fishes by poisoning the water pouring ketchup, mustard and some other substances.

The Real Peace Sign

It´s not upside down! This is way the Peace Sign was intended to be. It was meant to represent the Tree of Life yet some time in history people with evil intentions turn it upside down to signify that Humans would always be at war.

Thai Couple break Kissing Record

So BBC News have informed that Thai couple has sealed a new record for the longest kissing, after locking lips for 46 hours, 24 minutes. This happened recently. The couple won a diamond ring of over one thousand dollars and about two thousand dollars in cash. I´m happy for that couple of lovers.

Thinking Randomly

Why everybody is talking about love and cupid... and all that stuff... I went to my social network page and everybody was sending me like love & friendship e-cards. The thing is, I let my friends know I care for them everyday I interact with them... not just on this day.

On other matter.
Wouldn´t be great to go to the beach today? Since I´m so far from the beach, I´ve been thinking a lot about taking time to go there.

Sleepy Cats

I see them and I want to go to sleep. How easy would be life if we were cats or some sort or animal.... like I don´t know... a goldfish or a guppy. In the wild not in captivity because otherwise it wouldn´t be as good as I´m thinking. Dream little cats... dream with a better World.
